PLYMOUTH Leander’s highly-rated young swimmers Honey Osrin and Sophie Freeman will gain more international experience this weekend when they compete at the 2020 Luxembourg Euro Meet.

The Great Britain junior stars are part of a 15-strong Swim England performance squad that will travel to the competition.

They will be joined by 24 representatives from the Swim England South East squad, which will include former Plymouth Leander and Devon swimmer Tegan Drew, who is now at the University of Surrey.

Also competing in Luxembourg this weekend will be former world champion and Olympic hopeful Ben Proud, who will be representing Energy Standard.

Leander head coach Robin Armayan will be part of the Swim England squad’s backroom staff in Luxembourg.

Grant Robins, Swim England’s head of talent said:“For the majority of our swimmers, it will be their first long course swims of the season. They will be aiming to get a second swim in the evenings and that final experience.

“It will be great if they all swim well but that’s not the be all and end all. The primary objective is to use it as preparation for the Olympic trials.

“It’s a strong entry list and it will be a pretty challenging meet but we’re looking forward to it.”
