Richard Beard

Deputy Director of Swimming

Richard is a former swimmer and competitive rugby player - and joins us from Hackney Aquatics Club where he was Assistant Head Coach having coached swimming for five years in the London region.

I’m very excited to begin my journey with Plymouth Leander and help develop the swimmers in my care to be high achieving young people both in and out of the pool. Swimming for me is a sport for life that equips one to deal with many of life’s great challenges, introduces you to lifelong friends and a healthy activity for the body and mind. Plymouth Leander’s pedigree of producing swimming excellence and its high professionalism struck a chord with my own philosophy and I look forward to working with the club in the coming seasons!

Richard has been involved with many aspects of swimming and aquatics over a number of years including organising and running training camps, skill clinics, swim school organisation, club management and coaching... helping swimmers, from age group to elite, to succeed.
